About the Tourney

Since 1985 the 72-hole Tourney has been run each summer over the St. Andrews links courses.  Originally found on the Eden and New courses, it was then played over the New and Jubilee. However, the 40th running in 2024 saw it switch to the Eden and Jubilee, where it remains for 2025.

The first Tourney featured a group of 6 and has steadily grown, initially to a maximum of c. 28, but, in a nod to the occasion, exactly 40 players were invited for the 40th.  2025 continues with a field of 38.  Over the years, more than 130 individual golfers have featured in the event, with players arriving from all corners of the UK, plus those who have appeared from Argentina, Australia, Croatia, France, New Zealand, Qatar, Spain, the UAE and the USA. ​It is always held on the same weekend in July as the Open, unless that is held in St. Andrews, and the Tourney is then moved by a month into August.  ​
